Our Team
Charles C. Rogers, ChFC ®, CIMA®, MBA
President and CEO
Charlie Rogers founded Azimuth M&A Advisors and Azimuth Wealth Advisors to provide independent, objective advice and guidance, always intensely focused on the best interests of the client.
Over the past 34 years, Charlie has developed substantial depth and breadth of experience in investments, portfolio management, risk management, insurance, mergers and acquisitions, as well as financial and estate planning.
For the 15 years prior to forming Azimuth Wealth Advisors, Charlie, as head of the Rogers Group at both Morgan Stanley and Merrill Lynch, advised and managed the personal investments for a number of CEOs and chairmen of the boards of Fortune 500 companies, partners of private equity firms, middle market business owners, professionals, wealthy families, private foundations and other important clients.
Charlie was named as a “Five Star Professional Wealth Manager” award winner three consecutive years. Los Angeles magazine listed him as a winner of this award in each of the following years: 2013, 2014 and 2015. Charlie received this same award in 2021 for the San Diego market.
Prior to working with these major Wall Street firms, Charlie co-founded a mergers and acquisitions advisory firm and recruited three former Fortune 500 presidents and CEOs to join him as co-founding partners.
While some advisors advise CEOs of major corporations, very few ever get the opportunity to work with them as equal operating partners and owners of the same firm. Through this unique experience, Charlie gained unusually keen insights into how CEOs at the highest levels think, strategize, analyze, manage, operate and execute.
Previously, Charlie served as the risk manager for a high-tech start-up in the wireless telecommunications field, where he was responsible for all insurance needs of the company. By securing various insurance policies, Charlie helped the company arrange the financings, thus enabling the company to expand rapidly. Ultimately, such efforts contributed to the company’s acquisition by its industry leader for over $200 million.
Earlier, Charlie started the professional liability and directors’ and officers’ liability insurance division within a successful boutique insurance brokerage firm whose clients included a number of Fortune 100 companies. Along with the team that he later developed and led, he helped to grow that line of business to become a leading player in California.
Prior to entering the financial services industry, Charlie served as an officer in the U.S. Army. During multiple major combat-simulated exercises in the former West Germany at the end of the Cold War, he led two different Field Artillery units to achieve the unprecedented feat of hitting hundreds of targets miles away with 100% firing accuracy.
Charlie began his military career at West Point, where he graduated from the United States Military Academy, earning a B.S. degree in National Security and Public Affairs with minors in Mathematics and Engineering. At West Point, he earned the rank of Cadet Captain, commanded one of 36 cadet companies and played for the Army Tennis team.
After his military career, Charlie earned an MBA in Finance at the University of Southern California. Charlie also maintains the Chartered Financial Consultant ® (“ChFC®”) and the Certified Investment Management Analyst ® (“CIMA®”) certifications.
Outside of his military service, Charlie had lived and worked in the Pasadena, California area until 2014 when his twin sons graduated from his alma mater, San Marino High School. He and his wife, Anne Q. Rogers, who is also his business partner, then moved with their sons from San Marino to Rancho Santa Fe in San Diego.
To pursue his dream of starting his own independent firm, Charlie then formed Azimuth Wealth Advisors and subsequently Azimuth M&A Advisors and established their headquarters in San Diego.
Of the various executive and board positions he has held as a volunteer, Charlie most treasures his time spent in helping to develop or influence tomorrow’s leaders. Two examples include involvement with his sons’ Boy Scout Troop as well as serving on his congressman’s committee to help select the local candidates who receive Congressional Nominations to attend the U.S. Service Academies.
Anne Q. Rogers, MBA
Senior Vice President
With over 30 years of engineering, project management, and financial analysis experience, predominantly with Fortune 500 companies, Anne Rogers contributes another value-added dimension to the firm.
For the six years immediately prior to helping to co-found Azimuth Wealth Advisors and subsequently Azimuth M&A Advisors, Anne worked with her business partner, Charlie Rogers, as part of The Rogers Group at Morgan Stanley.
Anne grew up in Dallas and earned a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University. After graduation, Anne worked as an engineer for Texas Instruments. Months later, she met Charlie Rogers, an officer in the U.S. Army at the time. They married soon thereafter and began their marriage in Germany, where Anne worked as a civilian engineer for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. While working with local Germans, Anne became relatively fluent in German.
Anne was then recruited to help the leading German cellular systems consortium to design and build-out a new digital cellular network in Germany in 1990.
For the next 14 years, Anne remained at the cutting-edge of designing and building out the cellular system in Southern California as a cellular design engineer with major cellular systems providers and manufacturers, including predecessor firms to Verizon Wireless.
Through engineering analysis, she personally identified the optimal locations for new cell sites and coordinated with a myriad of zoning commissions and landlords / property owners. Her diligence, enthusiasm, positive attitude and ability to overcome objections and convey mutual benefits among multiple, at times divergent, parties resulted in securing the many desired cell site locations.
While working full-time as an engineer during the day, Anne earned an MBA from Pepperdine University at night while pregnant with identical twins.
Anne’s boundless energy and endurance have helped her to complete a Full Ironman, several Half Ironman Triathlons as well as over 20 Full and Ultramarathons. Anne’s enthusiasm and inspirational nature motivated her fellow endurance athletes to elect her to serve as the President of Pasadena Pacers’ running club and Vice President of California Triathlon Club.
While Anne has volunteered for various organizations, including as a Board member for the Junior League of Pasadena, her favorite volunteer positions involved supporting her twin sons by serving in many positions at their schools or sports teams throughout their childhood. Anne’s volunteerism in San Marino culminated in her receiving the coveted “Terrific Titan” Award, which annually recognizes only a select few volunteers in the community.
After her twin sons graduated from San Marino High School in 2014, Anne moved to Rancho Santa Fe in San Diego with her family.
When she is not otherwise directly engaged with clients or training for triathlons, Anne enjoys “crunching numbers” for financial planning modeling or investment analysis.
